RoadMap

This roadmap shows the ideas and hopes of Hybrid Share contributors for the near future.

Hybrid Share History In Short

The Idea of this Application is dated 2004. I was on a LiveCD and my friend want to send me a large number of files. But There was a Problem, How to do this simple operation? The Mail size was not enought and he hasn't a WEB or FTP Server, so we haven't found a solution. The day after I started to write a simple C/Gtk to Share Files. The Project grows up and C is not quickly portable, so I've decided to rewrite it with Mono C#. The First 0.x version is Released under the name of NyFolder at Berlios, then the Project was moved to SourceForge and has take the Hybrid Share name.

The Future of Hybrid Share

In The Near future, I want bringing Hybrid Share at the same level of the IM clients, so with a complete and simple Buddies and Accounts Managment. The Second Step is add a "Blackboard" system, where you and your friends could manipulate the same file or see (and modify) the same image. Then I want add support for the RSA communications and other security systems... But the Development shouldn't stop here. I'm always wait your suggestions.

1.0.x Release (Stable)

This will be The First Hybrid Share Release.
The Main Requirements for this release are:

  • Working File Transfer (with Download/Upload Viewer) Status Done
  • Simple Buddies System Status Done
  • Image Preview Plugin Status Done
  • Simple Talk Plugin Status Done

1.2.x Release (Stable)

The Main Requirements for this release are:

  • Download Manager (Partial Download/Uploads) Status Done
  • Accounts Manager (With AutoLogin Features) Status Done
  • Allow (authorized) user to Write on my disk Status Done
  • File Searcher (Using Names, Types) Status Done
  • Buddies System with Groups Status Done
  • Multiple Shared Path Status Done
  • AES/RSA Encryption Status Done

1.3.x Release (Next Development)

This is some proposal to for the next Hybrid Share Development Version,

  • Proxy: Ability to connect Users behind NAT
  • File Searcher (Using Tags and Description)
  • Talk (Allow Multiple Person Chat)
  • Send entire selected Directory
